Audacity 4.0 では Qt ベースの新しいインターフェースに再構築され、クリップ直接選択やグループ化などの新機能が追加されました。プロジェクト形式が .aup4 に変更され、複数の機能（Time Tracks、MIDI トラック、Mixer など）が削除されています。既存の .aup3 ファイルは自動変換されますが、逆変換はできません。
